Because giraffes are cute

Le former roommate had her baby shower this weekend. Chocolate fondue, giraffe decorations, cute little baby girl clothing, and all. Her baby is going to be so stinkin' cute.

Aren't these the most adorable little shoes? Donnie's mother made them herself! She's considering opening an Etsy shop to sell them, if any of you mamas are interested...

Isn't this the cutest idea? Take baby clothes, stuff them with rolled-up diapers, and put it in a baby bath covered with a fuzzy blanket. I need to remember this idea because it's so stinkin' cute.

This picture is wonderful because of the giraffe balloon sticking up behind Donnie's head.

This one is even better. 'Cuz of the balloon, of course.

Donnie, I miss your face.
Especially because of this picture. You know it's golden.

Also, baby showers make me want to go out and buy every single cute baby outfit in the world. Just a side note.

Oh deer...

I was reaching the top of the stairs that lead from the Richards Building to the rest of campus when a deer walked right in front of me. She trotted off onto the grass to the left and started lounging around and trimming the lawn. With her mouth. So what if it was the middle of campus, broad daylight, with people walking around? She didn't care. She's a deer. She can do what she likes.

Well, I'm a human, and I can do what I like too. So I whipped out my little point-and-shoot before going on my way.

I saw a deer right along that same RB staircase earlier this week. I'll bet you it was the same deer. She's very daring! And it's not the first time I've witnessed deer on campus - at some point during this past year, I was walking to class in the early morning and a herd of about 7-9 of them rushed right past me and thundered right by the library and off to the west side of campus. Silly deer.

I suppose that's one of the perks of living in Happy Valley. You aren't considered a small-town mountain person because this area is filled with people and shopping centers and other facilities... and yet you have deer running right by you, raccoons chilling out in your parking lot (Doug got really excited when we saw those) and even some cougars lurking in the mountains to the east. Fortunately, no cougars ever come running through campus. Except Cosmo the Cougar, but he just break dances and does back-flips.

Besides... I get a view like this whenever I look out our window.

The look awesome during fall when the trees turn red and orange. And in winter when they're capped with snow. Doug and I might go hiking around these mountains very soon because I just bought new tennis shoes today. As long as we go in the morning or at night when it's not 100 degrees...

Cupcakes & A Preggo Lady

Before you ask, no I'm not the preggo lady.

But as for my former roommate... she sure is! Her baby girl is due in August, and we're all so excited to see her! In the meantime, I figured it wouldn't hurt to take the mama-to-be out on a birthday cupcake outing. Because what preggo lady doesn't like cupcakes?

I may or may not awkwardly rub Donnie's belly each time I see her.
What can I say? It's become a tradition.

Meanwhile, I'm enjoying a couple days of no-school before summer term starts up. No rest for the wicked! I'm like the Energizer Bunny, I just keep going and going...

Goodbye GFC, Hello... Italian Pizza?

Hello Italian pizza, indeed! I love Terra Mia. A little piece of Italy in the middle of Provo.

Next time I go there, I am getting gelato. I've decided already.

On another note...

For those of you who have not heard, Google Reader is on it's way out in less than 2 weeks. In other words, you will no longer be able follow the blogs you love via RSS Feed or GFC (Google Friends Connect). So, the 380 pretty little faces on the side of my blog will disappear. All my followers will be lost, and yours will too.

There IS a way to remedy this, though! Follow the blogs on Bloglovin! It's very simple, really... click on the Bloglovin' button on the top of my page (or another blog you want to follow... it's usually represented by a heart or an upper-case B) and after clicking the heart, click "Follow".

If you don't have a Bloglovin' account yet, hurry up and create one and then link your blog to your account. All of your new posts will show up on your Bloglovin' account, and anyone following you on Bloglovin' will be able to see them.

Goodbye, GFC. It was nice knowing ya.

A Wrinkle in Time: From Book to the Stage

Remember that strange, beloved children's book that had us wishing we could tesser, looking at stars and wondering which ones were fighting darkness, and taught us the power of love and courage?

Well... on Saturday we did our last performance of a new stage adaptation of that book - A Wrinkle in Time - and it was quite the adventure! And, for the first time since April, I was able to sleep in today. No classes, no rehearsals... nothing. It was magical.

The rehearsal process was very interesting, but it all came together in the end. And what a production it was!

And, of course, we had a blast at our cast party. From hamburgers, to paper plate "W Awards" to bouning on the trampoline with a dinosaur pinata, it was a blast. Thank you to the lovely Jenna Hawkins for the pictures!

Sheets for our Director... Mrs Buncombe's sheets, of course! Mrs Whatsit finally gave them back ;)
I got the Watchful Award
#ThatsNotYourLine
(I was always on-book, telling them the lines they were messing up)
And yes, they drew a picture of a book with the words "Levi-O-sa, not Levi-o-SA"
It makes me happy that they compare me to Hermione.

Even a rainy beach will do

It's days like today that I wish I were back here.

With the weather hovering in the high 90s, the beach sounds really nice. Even a rainy-day beach like this one. I'm not picky as long as there's sand crabs, ocean water, and a salty breeze. It's been nearly half a year since I stood on a beach, and nearly 2 years since I went to a beach when it's warm and sunny.

That day was windy. I can't decide if I like windy beaches or not. It cools you down, but your hair gets crazy. Beach-hair to the extreme!

Speaking of wind, I can hear a lot of wind outside right now! I'm crossing my fingers because the temperature has dropped down to 73 degrees and it's supposed to get into the 60s tonight. There's even a 20% chance of rain tomorrow! I suppose I'm getting my hopes up, but you never know. Provo has very strange weather...

Summer rain storms, anyone? I don't know about you, but I love them. Especially when you throw in a little thunder.
